We’re all familiar with the saying: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s something we take quite seriously here at Grain Traders, and we’ve been championing breakfast ever since we opened. We find that taking the time, even just 10 minutes, to sit down and fuel up on something comforting and warm in the morning really helps us to push through the rest of the day—or until lunch, at least.

But we know that more often than not, most people simply don’t have the time or the energy to make a full, hearty breakfast in the early hours of the morning before leaving for work. Which is why we’ve done the work for you, and have also made breakfast easy to grab and go on the way to the office. 

First off, who doesn’t love a good bagel? Like our customisable lunch bowls, we give you the option to build your own bagel, with all the fillings of your choice, but we’ve also got our favourite combinations that will work without you having to think twice.

Tequila-cured Salmon with jalapeño cream cheese, red onion, and alfalfa, or Guacamole BLT with baby spinach is great to give yourself a little treat before facing the day’s hurdles. You can’t go wrong with a classic combination like Scrambled Eggs with Sautéed Mushrooms, herb salad, and spring onion cream cheese, but if you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, give our “Kilo Style” Wasabi Tuna Tartare with avocado and alfalfa a try.

If oatmeal brings back some unpleasant childhood memories, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the way we do ours: with coconut flakes, tropical fruit salad and nut mix, or with banana, cinnamon, sugar cane, sautéed apples, and pumpkin seeds—bowls of creamy, warm goodness.

We also have a couple of brown rice porridges that hint at our offerings for lunch. There’s Roasted Chicken with sautéed mushrooms, or Pulled Pork with furikake corn, carrots, and spinach. Both come with avocado, herb salad and a soft-boiled egg, and are favourites among those who prefer a savoury option for breakfast instead.

Last but not least, we’re proud to serve up Polenta Eggs Rancheros, a dish that speaks to the Puerto-Rican heritage of two of our founders. We make polenta cakes and top them with egg mollet, mixed bean pico de gallo, guacamole, and salsa verde for a truly unique breakfast that’s great to mix, eat, and love.
